BRIGHAM CITY - Thorald Hatch Rollins was born on September 5, 1931 and returned home to his Father in Heaven on Thursday, March 16, 2017. He was the youngest of six children born to Thorald Bryant and Thora Hatch Rollins of Chicago, Illinois. His siblings all of who have gone on before him, were: Delilah Call, Robert Hatch Rollins, Marian Nielsen, Marie Wold, and Marjorie Rollins. He also had one step brother and sister: Eugene Watson, Carol Welch and one grandson, Justin Tiek. Thorald spent his early childhood in Chicago, and moved to Lovell, Wyoming in 1943. He had a wonderful childhood and youth and loved Wyoming and its wide open space and opportunities to find and get into mischief. He graduated from Lovell High School in 1949 and served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army driving and repairing tanks and other military vehicles. Upon returning home from Korea he married his high school sweetheart, Lola Gene McArthur and attended Utah State Agricultural College Graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in Southern California for General Dynamics Corporation designing rockets and rocket engines for over 33 years. He and Lola Gene have five (5) children: Debbie (Dave) Tiek; Diane (Marty) Bacik; Don Wayne (Fran) Rollins; Doreen (Jeff) Nielsen; David Jay (Tania) Rollins; 22 grandchildren and as of this minute, 44 great-grandchildren, three step sisters, Joan Smith, Donna Moon, and Marlene Lish. Thorald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served as a Bishop, a High Councilor, numerous stints as Young Men's President and served in Scouting for over 40 years in numerous capacities. He worked in the Ogden Temple for 15 years which calling he greatly loved. He loved the Savior and often reminded his children and grandchildren of this. More importantly to us, his family, was the fact that he lived as a true disciple of the Savior through his constant reminders of love and service to us and all that knew him in any way he could. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his "talks," for "grandpa's rules," for his being the biggest kid in the room, for his quick laugh, for his endless ability to spin the kids for hours on end, for his love of fishing and all out-of-door activities, for his model planes and love of music and nature, and so many other things, too many to list. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brigham City North Stake, 320 East 600 North. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Box Elder County Veterans Honor Guard.
