Lawrence Fred Nyland age 88, passed away on Sunday morning July 30th, 2017. He was a beloved son of Lawrence Dooley Nyland and Vera Chatland of Ogden. Fred was married to his surviving eternal sweetheart, Maxine Clayson Nyland. She was the love of his life. Together they served in the temple twice a week for four years and a two year proselyting LDS mission in South Carolina. They enjoyed traveling the world together. Fred was a member of the Northern Chapter of The Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Both he and Maxine lived a life full of service to others. After joining the Air Force at age 19, Fred served in Japan and Korea for four years. His most memorable experience was while installing communication wires high up a pole. General McArthur stopped his jeep and called up to Fred, "Keep up the good work, son." Fred worked as a CPA and also as an industrial engineer at Thiokol. He is survived by his beloved Maxine; daughters Julie Jackson (Larry), JaNae Naumann (Court), and Jodie Munford (Michael); 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joys of his life. They loved their grandpa and enjoyed his fun personality. The viewing will be Saturday, August 5th, starting at 12:30 to 1:40 p.m. following the viewing the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. Interment thereafter at the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honor will be accorded by the Combined Box Elder County Honor Guard.

Maxine & family; please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. I'm so sorry I will not be able to attend the services that have been planned Ito honor Fred. I thank u all for sharing him with us in CFL at chancellor we quickly came to love him and wil forever hold the example of his love for his beloved Maxine in our hearts! Sincerest condolences;
