Jim I Cady

July 12, 1935 ~ November 29, 2017

Jim, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Huntington Beach, California to Avril LeRoy Cady and Mary Audell Potts. He had many happy memories during his youth going to the beach with his brother, Leonard, swimming in the ocean. The family was devastated when Leonard passed away at 17 due to cancer. They chose to relocate at this time and Jim moved to Murray, Utah with his parents. He attended Murray High School where he loved the many friends he met there and has continued enjoying their friendships through class reunions. One beautiful summer day in July, not too long after his High School graduation, he met Carma Monsen and they started dating, their relationship blossomed and they were married Feb. 2, 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. Their first daughter, Connie (Michael) Van Pelt was born in Murray, UT. When she was a year old, they moved to Southern California where four more children joined their family, daughter, Lynne (John) Bay, three sons, Robert (Tracy) Cady, Steven (Debbie) Cady, Shawn (Cathy) Cady. Jim was an avid coin collector, sharing his knowledge with others and helping many scouts complete merit badges is that field. He loved to camp, fish, and playing cards. Many summers were spent with family and friends camping and enjoying the outdoors. He loved to travel, going on many tours and cruises with his wife, family, and friends. Jim worked for Lockheed Propulsion in Mentone, Ca. as a Scale Technician. When Lockheed closed that plant, he returned to Utah to work for Thiokol Corp. Jim was member of Brigham City 20th ward, serving in many different callings, enjoying them all. He and his wife had the great experience of being ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. Jim had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that endeared him to many people. He kept us all entertained and laughing throughout his life. He will be missed. Jim is survived by his wife, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, & 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents & brother. The family would like to give a special thank you to Lisa, Mavis, Gaby, Shannon, and Dan of Intermountain Home and Hospice for their kind and loving care given to Jim. They are angels. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Brigham City 20th Ward Building, 650 Anderson Drive, Brigham City, at 11:00am. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, from 6-8pm. And again on Saturday at the church from 10-10:40am.
