Jed Dee Thomas passed away on August 13, 2017, in Tremonton, Utah at the home of his niece and her husband, Ron and Terri Jo Secrist. Jed fought the fight long and hard, but his body was just too weak to continue and cancer won. Jed was born in Preston, Idaho on December 21, 1940 to Hazel Criddle and Martel Willard Thomas and grew up in Swan Lake, Idaho. During his youth, he learned to work hard helping in the family business (Thomas Merc). He went to schools in Downey and graduated from Marsh Valley High School and went to Utah State University for two years. He related that he did not receive his bachelors, but earned a master's degree in chasing girls and drinking beer. Jed was patriotic and traveled the world while serving in the military (Army). Jed had a varied career. He spent over 40 years working on the north slope of the Alaskan pipeline. He was skilled with his hands loving to create and made beautiful jewelry and wood creations. He worked as a bartender, which was fitting, as he was naturally social. Jed loved his dogs. He and his wife, Sally enjoyed participating in dogs shows, winning many awards. He was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. Jed loved Seattle and his home in Hoodsport, WA in the woods. He could sit for hours enjoying the solitude he cherished. He could also visit for hours with his friends, while enjoying the spectacular view of the bay. Jed was a giving person and would do anything for anyone. Jed was married to Peggy Faulk and later divorced. He was married to Gloria Brewer in 1967 and later divorced. He then married Sally Sathe in 1978. She passed away in 2012. He is survived by his stepchildren: Lonnie Lynn Seidle, Santa Fe, NM; Mark P. Seidle, Palmer, AK. His siblings, Kim (Becky) Thomas, Swan Lake, ID; Brad (Donna) Thomas, South Jordan, UT; Cheryl (Dave) Packard, Inkom, ID; sister-in-law, Marty Thomas, Brigham City, UT; brother-in-law, Kay (Beth) Littlefield, Wilmington, NC and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Terry Devon Thomas and Sheila Ann Littlefield. Special thanks to Jed's hospice friends; Vicki, Misty and especially Jason. Thank you to all of Jed's Hoodsport friends, you were his family. Special thanks to the Secrist family; Fuzz, TJ, and their children for welcoming him into their home and their tender care the past four months. Services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 12 Noon at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion of Tremonton.

So sorry to hear of Jed's passing. I have fond memories of him when I stayed with Ann when we were in Idaho on vacation. Sorry I won't be able to come to the funeral!

I just learned that my friend from high school, Jed Thomas, has passed away. Jed and I used to share a seat on the bus to and from high school. That was a long time ago, but he was my friend and I feel very sad to learn of his passing. My condolences to his family and all those that loved Jed.

We were Jed's neighbors for 15 years in Hoodsport. Jed and Sally welcomed us to the neighborhood and we became good friends. Jed taught us everything we know about working hard in the woods and building a big bonfire. We loved him, even though he could try our patience sometimes, he had a big heart and we will miss him greatly.

I'm very sorry to hear of Jed's passing. He was always the "exotic" older cousin. I never really knew him, but I certainly loved all my Thomas cousins. I couldn't help but imagine the great reunion that is happening in the unseen world.

My wife, Kay, and I will miss Jed immensely. Jed and Sally got me my first job on the Slope in 1983. Kay and I have made many cherished memories with Jed and Sally both in Alaska and Hoodsport. He will be missed. We said "see you later" at the Hoodsport property on Monday, 9/10, where we learned of his passing from Brad & Debbie.
