Brigham City – Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, James Victor Lynch, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the William E. Christoffersen Veteran's Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He had been living previous for 2 ½ years at Maple Springs Assisted Living in Brigham City, Utah. Vic was born on December 4, 1919 in New Tazewell, Clayborne, Tennessee, a son of Charles Greenbury and Martha Melvina Rouse Lynch. He served in the US Navy from 1940 to 1945 during World War II. He married his sweetheart, Gwendolyn Malone on February 11, 1941 in the County of Knox, Tennessee. Gwen passed away on April 16, 2010. Vic was a school teacher Tri Central High School in Tipton County, Indiana. He retired from school teaching 1980. Vic's favorite hobby was small time farming and gardening. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Elliott of Burbank, CA; Vicki (Jerry) Peterson of Willard, UT; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen, and 12 siblings. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, 220 Highway 61 East, Maynardville, Tennessee, 37807 Interment will be in the Fords Chapel Cemetery, Fords Chapel, Tennessee.
