James Robert Hagen, age 86 passed away June 24, 2017 at Beehive Homes of Perry, Utah. He was born May 16, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Hugo and Avis Hagen. He was employed by Alliant Tech Systems, Inc. (Formerly Thiokol) in Brigham, City, UT. He was the division Manager of Business Services and retired in 1992 after 33 years. He served four years (1949-1952) in the U. S. Marine Corps in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. Semper Fi. He married his childhood sweetheart, Jean C. Krenn in Chicago, Illinois, September 19, 1953. Jean passed away in January of 1998. Surviving is one daughter, Cynthia A. Peters (Mike) of Brigham City, UT and one son Scott R. Hagen (Beatrice) of Henderson, NV. He is also survived by the following: Grandson, Matt (Tish)Stark of Tremonton, UT and Granddaughter, Emily Stark of Brigham City, UT; Great- Grandchildren, Makayla, Chase, Austin and Ruger Stark of Tremonton, UT, Ilene (Carl) Ward of Clinton, UT; Great Great Grandson Haven Stark; sisters Jacqueline Bartelsen of Ogden, UT; Nancy(Bob) Matthews of Albuquerque, NM, Sister-in-law Kathi Hagen, Delevan, WI, nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his wife, parents, brother Howard Hagen, brother-in-law Howard Bartelsen, and many loving Aunts and Uncles. Jim and Jean traveled often and enjoyed spending a great deal of time in Europe and with the family in Austria. New Year Celebrations were spent in London, England or Sun Valley, Idaho. They loved Hawaii spending many years traveling there during the winter, with their most memorable time spent in Maui with Cindy and Scott. He loved Montana, the cabins in the Swan Valley and the house they built in Kalispell upon retirement. He spent many enjoyable days hiking around the properties in the Swan Valley, MT and fishing the streams. He enjoyed his stained glass shop and designed beautiful pieces of work for family and friends as a hobby. He wrote cookbooks and loved spending hours in the kitchen developing his recipes. The family is very grateful to Bee Hive Homes and their amazing staff for providing loving care for our father. We also want to offer our heartfelt gratitude to Medical Arts Center Clinic, Dr. Beard, Emily, and all of the kind and dedicated people there that made his visits so much easier. Your professionalism and compassion is more appreciated than you will ever know. Also Kaylee, Eric and the staff at Integrity Home and Hospice. Your love and compassion made his difficult journey much easier and provided strength for us. A visitation will take place on Friday July 7th, 2017 at Gillies Funeral Chapel 634 East 200 South, in Brigham City 6-8 pm. Services will take place later at home in Montana where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Primary Children's Hospital or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
