BRIGHAM CITY - Dwain LaVell Sylvester passed away on February 27, 2017 in Brigham City, Utah. He was born in Hurricane, Utah on July 29, 1938 to LaVell and Lena Stevens Sylvester. He grew up on a fruit farm in Pintura, Utah. Dwain was an only child, but had many foster brothers and sisters. Dwain had a love for music. He played an electric guitar in a band. Dwain went on an LDS mission to Uruguay South America in 1957, he served for 2 ½ years. After he returned, he went to school at the College of Southern Utah and graduated from Utah State University earning a degree in Elementary Education. He met the love of his life, Linda Edwards, in Cedar City while attending college. They were married in the Manti Temple November 27, 1963. Dwain and Linda had seven beautiful children. Their second child, Lisa May, passed away as a baby at the age of four months old. The family settled in Brigham City to be closer to Dwain's parents. He taught at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Arizona. Dwain made his career at the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 42 years of dedication. Dwain had many callings in the LDS church, he loved his faith. He also loved playing the steel guitar and was quite the artist. He painted the most beautiful painting of Linda. Dwain is survived by his wife, Linda; six children: Delyle (Jeannette); Katrina (Brian) Mills; Brent; Jason; Jonell (Russell) Moore; Teresa (Colin) Anderson; 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVell and Lena, aunts, uncles and his baby girl Lisa May. Viewing will be held at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City on Sunday March 5th at 6-8 PM and Monday, March 6th, at the church from 9:30-10:30 AM with the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Brigham City LDS 14th Ward, 650 N. Anderson Drive. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Dwaine was a classmate of ours at Hurricane High School and graduated in 1956.He always attended our class reunions with his sweetheart Linda. We will truly miss him and send our love and prayers to his family.
