BRIGHAM CITY – Gerald Warren Cottrell, 79, passed away on Sunday, at his home in Brigham City, UT. He was born on April 20, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Elmer Blood and Bertha Ilene Warren Cottrell. Gerald graduated from Weber High School in Ogden, Utah in 1955. He married Pat Cragun in October 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were later divorced. Gerald married Vauncille O'Brien on July 3, 1975 in Elko, Nevada. He was a member of the LDS church, where he spent time teaching the Boy Scouts. Gerald owned his own bakery, it was called Jerry's Quality Bakery. He also worked for many years as the head Baker at Albertson's grocery store. He enjoyed working on cars when possible, listening to news on the radio, golfing, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife, Von; eight children, Sherri Martinez; Tim (Janet) Cottrell; Cathy (Gerald) Nichols; Chris (Bill) Gooch; Connie (Bryan) Gable; Susan (Scott) Andersen; Becky (Greg) Wohlschlagel; Robert (Carrie) O'Brien; 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; three sisters: Jean Hahn; Marian Stoker; Karen Meeks. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Calvin and step son, Jerry. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be sent to Gillies Funeral Chapel, PO BOX 704, Brigham City, Utah 84302 to offset funeral cost. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Brigham City 19th LDS Ward Chapel, 105 Fishburn Drive. Viewings will be held at the church on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 1:00 to 1:40 p.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
Von, Cathy and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Von, I know Mom would have wanted to be there for you, so I figured I was next best. :) Again our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
