Evelyn Marie Feltus Taylor

Brigham City- Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Evelyn Marie Feltus Taylor, passed away on August 7, 2016, in Brigham City, Utah of natural causes. She was born on December 28, 1924, to Elmer Dow and Catherine Marie Sova Feltus. Evelyn attended schools in Toledo, graduating from Thomas A DeVilbiss High School in 1943. She attended a short course at Davis Business College. Evelyn worked summer jobs for freight lines as a billing/filing clerk. Upon graduating Evelyn worked for another freight line until securing employment at Owens Illinois Glass Company, at the time it was the largest glass manufacturing company in the world. In 1945 Evelyn met Grant Bunker Taylor, the son of Lorin Independence Taylor and Elida Jane Bunker Holt. They were married on May 26, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio. Grant was raised in Delta, Millard County, Utah. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII where he served in the Pacific until transferring to Toledo, Ohio. In 1946, twin sons were born, Jay Floyd and John Lloyd Taylor. In 1948 a daughter, Joy Lynn was born. Then in 1953 another daughter, Judy Lee. In 1960, she went to work part-time for the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. In 1963, she accepted a full-time position with the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. She held that position until 1973. Her next position was with the Utah Juvenile Court where she stayed until her retirement in 1983. Evelyn was a lifetime member of the Cedar City Ladies of the Elks. She held many offices and was treasurer for several years. She was an active parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church. Evelyn was also a member of the Valley View Medical Center Auxiliary (Pink Ladies). Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, John Feltus, two sisters, Verna Duncan and Virginia Klem, two sons, Jay Floyd and John Lloyd, and one daughter, Joy Lynn Bentley. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Gary) Gulliford; grandchildren, Gina Serna, Sara (Kevin) Gulliford-Gosnell, Brandon Bentley, Colleen Bentley, Burke (Catherine) Bentley, Lori McCombs, Jaimee Taylor; great grandchildren, Gavin Serna, Chloe Serna, Elliot Gosnell, Breannyn Gosnell, Abigail Bentley, Nick Bentley, Chase Bentley, Cambry Bentley, Jeramiah McCombs and Ashley McCombs; son-in-law, Randy Bentley; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Davis Taylor; Friend and companion, Max Bennett. Evelyn will be buried in the Cedar City Cemetery on Saturday, August 13, 2016 with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m.
