Eda Gretchen Ackerman Harmon

A graveside service for Eda Gretchen Ackerman Harmon, a wife of 60 years, mother of three, superb cook and watercolor artist, will be at‚ 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 6‚ at Elysian Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Harmon died June 18, 2016, in Perry, Utah, after a long illness. Mrs Harmon was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Santa Monica, Calif., and she graduated from John Burroughs High School in Burbank, Calif., where she played tennis and excelled in art. She earned her bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in commercial art at Woodbury College, where her skills earned her the nickname "Queen." She married Gary F. Harmon on Jan. 22, 1955, and raised her children in Craig Colorado; Grants N.M.; Salt Lake City Utah; Casper Wyoming; and Hixson Tennessee. Mrs. Harmon had three children, Gary P., Maren Boyce and Kristen Tracy, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All survive. Her life was enriched by her niece, Paula Toth, and newly discovered cousin, Susan Gorman. Mr. Harmon was particularly fond of Yellowstone National Park and some of her ashes were spread at her request at Sylvan Lake, in the shadow of Grizzly and Top Notch peaks, one of her favorite settings. The family encourages memorial contributions to the Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
