Allen Kent Hunsaker, Kent to family, Allen to associates, passed away Wednesday May 25, 2016 in Brigham City, Utah at age 78, following a brief illness. Kent was born in Brigham City on April 6th 1938 to Elzarus and Ruth Hunsaker (nee Baty). As a young boy he lived in Oregon, Montana and Utah. He graduated from Broadwater County High School in Townsend Montana in 1956 where he lettered in track and field. Following high school Kent served in the US Army and went on to earn two Bachelor’s Degrees, one from Montana State University in Commerce and another from Weber State College in Geology. During his younger years he worked on his father’s ranch, the Lazy 7 C Ranch in Townsend Montana where he helped raise Angus and Herford cattle. Once he completed his college education he went on to work for the State of Utah in the Department of Transportation as a Geologist. Kent worked for the State DOT for over 25 years before retiring in 2000. Kent loved the outdoors. Fishing and hunting with family members were among his favorite things to do, along with an occasional trip to Wendover to test his luck. He was an excellent fly fisherman, often catching more fish than the rest of the group combined. Kent is survived by his step mother and special friend Kathern Ragen, sisters LaVon Gardiner (Hunsaker), Diana Bruce (Hunsaker), JoAnn Price (Hunsaker), Angela Sharp (Hunsaker), and Ann Nisson (Baty), as well as his brother LeGrande Hunsaker. He was preceded in death by his sister Karen Berg (Hunsaker) and brothers Cecil Hunsaker and Thomas Baty. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Nicole Southern (niece) and the staff of Maples Springs for the exceptional care they provided Kent following his move back to Brigham City in 2014. Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00AM at Brigham City Cemetery. Entrusted to Gillies Funeral Chapel, Brigham City, UT
