He spent some time as a firefighter for the forest service in California for three summers while attending Collage at BYU in Utah during the school year. He served in the Navy as a fire fighter on San Clementi Island during the Korean War. He met his first wife, Barbara Sabin in San Francisco after college. He had two children with Barbara, Sally Ann and Mark Sabin Horsley. Sally passed away in about 2010. While in San Francisco Preston worked for the Rail Road. At the same time Preston worked with the Boy Scouts and the Young Men in the LDS Church. In 1961 he met Ruth Johnson in Brigham City Utah. A year later they were married in the Logan LDS Temple. On November of 1967, while living in Daily City, CA their son, Richard John Horsley was born. In 1969 they moved to UT. While in Sugar House he worked for Jewel T and then the V. A. Hospital where he eventually retired around 2005. In 1971 they moved to Granger, UT and on April 5th 1973 Thomas Ricks Horsley was born. While there Preston worked in numerous church callings as a Clerk, High Priest Leader, in the Bishopric, and a faithful Home teacher. He liked to visit the elderly widow’s and take as many opportunities to help them. Many fond memories come from times spent in the outdoors on vacations and yard work with Preston. In 1992 they moved to Brigham City, UT until 2015 when he and Ruth moved in with their son Tom, where he passed away. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, and his three sons, Mark, John, Tom, and four grandchildren. We will greatly miss our dear friend and Home Teacher of ten years in Brigham City. We have so many wonderful, dear memories spent visiting with he and Ruth. We love them both very much.

Dear Aunt Ruthie and family.
I Love all of you so very much. I am so sorry I could not come to the viewing or Graveside Service. You have all been in my thoughts and heart and prayers. Uncle Preston will be missed so very much. He was an example to all. I loved visiting you all in West Valley and Brigham City. His stories he told were something I will always remember. When I would talk to him while my Dad was so sick at the end of the year, he would express not only his love for us, but of his beautiful family. He loved you as I know you loved him dearly. R.I.P Uncle Preston. Fly high wth the angels. You are no longer in pain. Save a cloud to rest upon when we arrive to our Eternal Resting Place Called Heaven. Love
