Bear River City- Max, our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Logan, Utah November 2, 2015. Max was born July 5, 1950 in Ogden, Utah, to Helen Johnson and Edward Taggart. After Edward passed away, Helen married Lloyd N Whitaker from Bear River City. Lloyd adopted Max along with his other brothers, Earl and Richard. Max attended school in Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah. Max worked at the court house as a grounds keeper with his brother Richard. He also worked in maintenance at Bear Lake. Max also worked for Hansen Chevrolet, hauling cars to dealerships in Wyoming and Idaho. Max went into the Marines to serve his country but was only able to stay a month. Upon his return home he had a few problems and it took a little time to sort things out and get him the help he needed. He was in the Mental Health system until his death. Max, through all of his trials and tribulations, was a very good and happy person, loved by all who knew him and was very kind. Max was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors and was very active. He was a walker. He would walk from Brigham City to Bear River to see his family and you never knew when he was coming. Max was very close to his brother Richard and another good friend Mike. Max loved to go swimming in the canal close to his Bear River Home. He was always helping on the farm. When his brother Richard had braces on his legs, Max would pull him around in a little red wagon. Max leaves behind his mother, Hellen; brother, Richard (Ellen); sisters Tena (Ronald Harry), Debra (Steven Fabry, Sr) Margie Ochltree and Judy (Brent Kay); Sister in law, LeAnn. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; adopted father, Lloyd and his brother Earl. Many thanks goes out to all of those who loved and cared for him throughout his earthly journey. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bear River 3rd Ward, 5870 North 4700 West. A viewing will be held that morning at 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Bear River City Cemetery.
Hellen, I miss the visits we had when Max lived at Snow Park. Max was a very kind man. I enjoyed working with him. He was always so appreciative. You have always been there for Max. He looked up to you. Max is free from his mortal trial. He will now be there to help you complete your journey. He dearly loves you. You are a wonderful Mother.
