Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, “foster” and friend peacefully passed away Thursday May 14, 2015 surrounded by her family. Olga Helen Kiseleva “Loni” Bateman Olsen Sehrgosha, was born in Peking China, on June 17, 1939 to Tamara Kasle and Satohiro Okudaira. She lived in Peking China through the Japanese Occupation and escaped to the Philippine Islands where she resided in a refugee camp until she came to America on a battleship in 1947. She grew up in Twin Falls Idaho and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1958. She was a thespian, and loved music and loved learning. She married Lynn Bateman and from that union came Natalie and Victor. They divorced and she later married Delbert Olsen. From that union came Adam, Derek and Melinda. They were later divorced. She was then married to John Sehrgosha for 20 years. She attended Utah State University and transferred to the University of Utah where she graduated with a Master’s Degree. She worked at the U of U for 25 years, in Plastic Surgery and ENT and finished her career working for the Dean at the College of Mines and Earth Sciences. She was actively involved in making the university a better place for the students and faculty. She enjoyed traveling, cheering at her granddaughters soccer games, attending her grandsons choir concerts, Utah Jazz games, meeting new people, Dora her cat, raising hell, telling colorful jokes, impromptu trips and spending time with her family and friends. She loved flowers, the rain, sunsets, Russian food, Oceans and coffee. Some of the highlights of her life were befriending Andrei Kirilenko and his family and going on the Price is Right to meet Bob Barker and win a catamaran. She enjoyed attending the Brigham City Senior Center and the community of Corinne. She is survived by three of her children, Natalie (Don), Derek (Nan), Melinda; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren with one on the way and many “adopted” kids and grand kids. She was greeted in Heaven by both parents and sons, Victor and Adam. Funeral services will be held on May 21, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Corinne 1st Ward Chapel, 2335 North 4000 West Corinne Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9-11:40 a.m. at the church. Cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Gillies Funeral Chapel, PO Box 704, Brigham UT 84302 to offset the funeral expenses.
My condolences to the family. Loni was a cheerful person, who had a hard life, but didn't let it show. It was a pleasure having her around in the office for many years before her retirement. Remember the good things, and forget the bad.
Our heartfelt sympathies to the entire family. We are sadden to hear of your loss. May you find solace in the love and memories shared together and may God comfort you with these words from the Bible. "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
