PERRY – Our loving father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Ardel Holmes Loveland, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home in Perry, Utah. He was born on April 9, 1921 in Yost, Box Elder County, Utah, a son of Don Chester and Amy Catherine Baty Loveland. Ardel was raised in Yost attending school from 1st to 10th grades. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1939. He attended BYU and the College of Life Underwriters. Ardel served an LDS mission from 1939-41 in the Northern CA Mission. Ardel married his sweetheart Amy Yvonne Pettingill on June 14, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on December 18, 1997. He married VaLoy Rae Anderson Linville on July 10, 1999 in Ogden, Utah. He served in World War II in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre from 1944 – 1946. Ardel served in various ward and stake auxiliary organizations, he enjoyed teaching the gospel doctrine and high priest groups. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple for 10 years. Ardel was the District Manager in the Prudential Insurance Group. He retired from there in 1982. He was a member and past president of Life Underwriters Association and a member of the Rotary Club, and the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He was an avid BYU football, basketball fan, golf, baseball, horses when he was younger, not so much sheep, reading westerns, church history and biographies, playing pinochle with his family and traveling. The family would like to thank VaLoy for her loving care and companionship to our father these past 16 years. We would also like to thank Integrity Home Health and Hospice Care. Surviving is his wife, VaLoy of Perry; three children, Clinton (Julie) Loveland of Brigham City; LeAnn Loveland of Blythe, CA; Von (Jennie) Loveland of Victorville, CA; 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; one brother, Scott Loveland of Burley, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Amy Yvonne Loveland, daughter, Amy Yvonne Loveland, grandson, Michael Jon Loveland; granddaughter, Amy Jo Blomgren Loveland; two brothers, Glen and Don Loveland and one sister, Euleen Loveland. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 685 West 2250 South. Viewings will be held on Sunday, Dec. 27th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT and on Monday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Box Elder Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

I was sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I wanted to come to the viewing but I don't drive too far anymore and especially at night. Your Dad had a hugh influence on Jean getting started in the insurance business. It was a life changing move for him. We have valued your friendship these many years. Stop by when you can.
