BRIGHAM CITY – William Clair Knudson, 91, passed peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 26, 1923 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Benjamin Henry and Violet Wixom Knudson. He was reared and educated in Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1941 and attended Utah State University.
Clair married his sweetheart, Naomi Rees on September 19, 1942 in Brigham City, Utah. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2010.
He joined the Ninth Air Force and attained the rank of Sergeant serving in France and England returning on Oct. 14, 1945.
He was a member of the LDS Church and was an Exalter Ruler BPOE 2208.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Fairfax Road @ Virginia, SLC, UT 84103-4399.
Surviving are three children, Karolyn and Winston Humphrey; William (Kim) Knudson; Kristi (Dr. Rick) Tippets; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Sandra (Randy) Bergeson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi and two children, Kandis and Ben.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Brigham City Cemetery, 495 East 500 South, where military honors will be accorded by the Box Elder Combined Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT.
