BRIGHAM CITY - Mary Jane Horton McQuivey, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17, 2014 at Willow Glen Health and Rehabilitation in Brigham City, Utah of natural causes. She was born on January 2, 1934 in Payson, Utah to Elkington Davis and Erma Wilson Horton. She graduated from Springville High School in 1952 and attended L.D.S. Business College and John Robert Powers Modeling School. She worked as a teller in the Springville Bank where she met her future husband Richard M. McQuivey and they were married on June 15, 1957 in Springville, Utah. After marriage they moved to Hammond, Indiana for 2 years where she was employed at Mercantile National Bank before moving to Brigham City, Utah in June 1959, where they have lived for the past 55 years. She worked at Foothill Elementary School as a secretary for 9 years and worked as a secretary to one of the Directors at Box Elder Board of Education before retirement. Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a member of Newcomers Club, Civic Improvement Club, Brigham City Golf and Country Club and Questers Antique Group. She loved to entertain in her lovely home and her hobbies included antique collecting, hunting, fishing, camping, golf, bridge, needlepoint, interior decorating and gardening. Mary and Richard spent many happy times at their cabin in Island Park, Idaho and their home in Sun Lakes, Arizona with family and friends. She is survived by her husband Richard of Brigham City, Utah, two sons Brian (Susan) McQuivey of Pleasant View, Utah and Steve (Geri) McQuivey of St George, Utah; three grandchildren Craig, Erin and Christin McQuivey whom she loved very dearly; one brother and two sisters, Don (Floss) Horton of Springville, Utah, Janice (Mike) Coyne of Pleasant Grove, Utah and Lorraine (John) Ferguson of Rexburg, Idaho. Mary is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 22,2014 at 11 a.m. at the Brigham City 20th Ward Chapel on 650 Anderson Drive. Friends may call on Monday April 21, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E. 200 So., Brigham City and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
We both loved Mary Jane so much. She was the cutest lady with a great laugh and just made us always feel so welcome around her. We will miss her also and please know that our prayers are with you at this sad time.

Dear Steve and Jeri,
Clark and I were saddened to read about the passing of your dear mother. We felt really bad that we did not hear of this event until after the funeral. Please know of our love for her and of the fond memories we have of her. She was a wonderful lady and we were blessed by her kindness and friendship. We are thinking of you and understand somewhat of your loss and pain. It is hard loosing a parent. We love you and miss seeing you on a regular basis.
