BRIGHAM CITY – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Kurtis Scott Ravsten, 62, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home from a lingering illness. He was born on October 11, 1952 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Scott Arlen and LaReeda Campbell Ravsten. Kurtis served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Marilyn Seward on August 31, 1974 in Yakima Washington and together they had one daughter, Kristi. They were later divorced. Kurtis married his sweetheart, Wendy Vicars on February 14, 1987 in Elko, Nevada. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kurtis owned and operated his own trucking company and worked for Wal-Mart Distribution. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, spend time with his family, and playing his guitar and singing. Surviving are his wife, Wendy, Brigham City; six children, Kristi (Phil) Wendell, Bonneville, WA; Jeffery Ravsten, Tremonton; Bryanne Ravsten, Brigham City; Bobbi (Paul) Beckstead, Ogden; Scott (Stacie) Doutre, East Garland; Dalton Varelia, Portland, OR; two grandchildren, Casey and September Wendell; father, Scott Ravsten, Tremonton; five siblings, Kelly (Avis) Ravsten, Duvall, WA; Kevin Ravsten, Seattle, WA; Susan (Kent) Miller, Riverside; Shelly (Ed) Tarbet, Plymouth; Shawna (Troy) Harris, Layton; three sister-in-laws, Sandy Vicars, Brigham City; Judy Apodaca, Bothwell; Bonnie Roper, Roy; two brother-in-laws, Bob (Gerri) Vicars, Brigham City; Mike Doutre, Harrisville. He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister, Shirley, one brother-in-law, one nephew, and mother-in-law, Winnie Vicars. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview LDS Chapel, 865 South 300 West, Brigham City, UT. Viewings will be held on Monday, November 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Box Elder Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
