LOGANDALE, NV – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Joel Oleen Palmer, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. He was born on March 25, 1947 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Joseph Oleen and Velda Young Palmer. Joel graduated from Box Elder High School and Brigham Young University. Joel married his sweetheart, Linda Lee Winget on September 11, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had served in the High Priest Presidency, counselor in the Bishopric, Sunday School Presidency, Ward Mission Leader, Scout Leader, Young Men’s Presidency, home teacher. He served an LDS mission in the Yucatan Peninsula. He also participated in Stake Road shows and in a Barbershop Quartet. Joel was the owner of Palmer Custom Homes, Inc. and a geologist for uranium and oil. Joel was a Bronco Fan, loved sports in general, he liked body building, loved music and singing. He enjoyed collecting rocks, ATVing, but most of all loved being with his family. Surviving are his wife, Linda Lee Palmer of Logandale, NV; four children, Andria (Jared) VanDyke, Logandale, NV; Ryan Palmer , Provo, UT; Christina (Jeremie) Sprague, St. George, UT; Michael J. Palmer, Logandale, NV; three grandchildren and one on the way, Hailee Ann, Austin Jared, Emma Nicole VanDyke. Also surviving are five siblings, Cheryl (Roi) Stone, Bountiful, UT; Linda (Ron) Mortensen, Perry, UT; Rita (Gary) Smith, Lehi, UT; LeRoy (Alene) Palmer, Boise, ID; Jeannette (Larry) Benson, Bountiful, UT and many nieces and nephews, who loved and looked up to him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Perry LDS 1st Ward Chapel,1208 West 2950 South. A viewing will be held on Monday, April 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT and on Tuesday at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at the Logandale Stake Center, 2555 North St. Joseph Street.
