Glen Porter Jensen
November 4, 1927 ~ November 12, 2014
BRIGHAM CITY - Glen Porter Jensen, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Glen was born on November 4, 1927, in Glendale, Idaho. He was the 4th of nine children born to Oleen Alder and Ellen Clayton Porter Jensen. Glen had wonderful memories of growing up on a farm in Glendale. He graduated from Preston High School and shortly thereafter joined the army. He was a proud veteran of World War II. Upon returning home he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Watson Jepsen, from Mink Creek, Idaho. They were married and sealed in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Glen and Ruth lived in Pocatello, Boise, and Ogden, before settling in Brigham City, where he has lived for the past 57 years. Their five children are Charlene (Knox, deceased) Gohring, Irvine, California; Celeste (Brent) Atkinson, Brookside, Utah; Steven (Shauna), Logan, Utah; Marlin, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Kevin (Karla), Gilbert, Arizona. In February of 2007 Ruth passed away. In July of 2012, Glen married Naomi E. Lowe of Brigham City. Glen was a beautician by profession and owned beauty salons in Utah and Idaho. His passions were found in flying, skiing and riding his motorcycle. Glen enjoyed his associations with those he worked with, his neighbors and ward members, the doctors and nurses that helped care for him, and most especially his family. His close relationships with his siblings and Ruth's siblings, including many nieces and nephews, were important to him. The later years of his life brought new happiness in attending the temple and in finding sweet companionship once again. Glen is survived by his wife, Naomi, and his five children. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and his four sisters , Colleen, Helen, Lucille and Sharon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; a son-in-law, Knox Gohring; sisters Bardee and Evelyn; and brothers David and Cecil. Per his wishes, a private family burial was held at the Mink Creek Cemetery on Friday, November 14, 2014. Arrangements were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Chapel, Brigham City. Utah.
