BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Charles Edward Barrett, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at home with his family surrounding him. He was born on October 11, 1929 in Mendon, Utah, a second son of three, born to Clarence Samuel and Martha Parker Stuart Barrett. Charles graduated from South Cache High School in 1947 and from Utah State University. He served in the Western Canadian Mission and then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles married his sweetheart, Marise Larson on June 7, 1957 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a farmer and taught elementary school in the Bonneville School District in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He also worked for U&I Sugar and Pro-Ida Foods. Charles and Marise lived in Milo, Idaho for 51 years. Charles was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. He enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, and miniature model tractors. The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice Staff and especially, Lori Gillies. Surviving are his wife, Marise; six children: Annette (Lee) Benavente; Ray (Darla) Barrett; Susan (Ross) Whetten; Lynell (Mark) Davis; Mark (Kristine) Barrett; Clarence (Rebecca) Barrett; 20 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Sharilyn) Barrett and one sister-in-law, Beryl Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his younger brother, Stanton Barrett. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah. Family will have a viewing at the funeral chapel from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County Honor Guard.
We were saddened to hear of Charles passing. He was a good, gentle man. Our condolences go to you, Marise and your family wishing you God Bless.
