EDEN/RIVERDALE- Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Charles Blaine Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2014 at his home. He was born August 13, 1927 in Brigham City, Utah, the son of Henry Oluf and Ella Sackett Johnson. He met his wife Marian Elizabeth Palmer in 1945 after she moved from North Dakota with her parents to Utah. They were married May 9, 1947 in Brigham City, Utah. Their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 9, 1955. They recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. They resided in Ogden, Roy, Eden and Riverdale. He had resided in Eden for 45 years and Riverdale for 2 years. He had served as Elder Quorum President, High Counselor, Counselor in Bishopric, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, High Priest Group Leadership, Home Teacher and other various callings. He and his wife served a mission in 1993 at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was an agent with New York Life Insurance Company since 1957 (50 years). He served as President of the Ogden and State of Utah Associations of Life Underwriters. He also served as President of the Chartered Life Underwriter Ogden Chapter. He earned his CLU Degree in 1966, The Chartered Financial Consultant in 1982 and The Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow in 1985. He has been semi-retired since 1987. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed camping with his family, golfing with his friend, Jimmey, growing roses and traveling with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Marian of Eden; three children, Randy Johnson (Vicki) of South Weber; Sheryl Gibson (Roy) of Roy; Jeff Johnson (Lisa) of Pleasant View; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; one brother, Darel Johnson of Brigham City; one sister Eloise Wheelwright of Scottsdale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karen Johnson, one brother, Dee Johnson, and one great granddaughter Hailey Ann Barnes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eden Wolf Creek LDS Chapel, 2900 North Highway 162, Eden, UT. Viewings will be held at the Eden Wolf Creek Church on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in Eden, Utah .
I am so sorry to hear of Blaine's passing. He will always have that sunshine smile in my mind's eye and that optimistic spirit, shared by Marian.Two gentler souls have rarely graced this planet.
Growing up in Halvern was a blessing in my life because of neighbors like Blaine, Marion, Randy and Sherry. Your family was a fun, happy, loving example to all of us. Thank you for the memories. My sincere condolences and prayers go to you all.
