BRIGHAM CITY – Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Barbara Marie Olsen, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on June 28, 1926 in Santa Barbara, California, a daughter of David and Gladys Evans Nelson. Barbara was married to D.A. Olsen on August 25, 1949 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. She graduated from Box Elder High School and attended the University of Utah and University of Nebraska. Barbara was a past president of the Brigham City Ladies Auxiliary Golf Club and Brigham City Humane Society. She was also a member of the Box Elder Board of Education. Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary and Relief Society Presidency. She and her husband are members of the Brigham City 12th Ward. She enjoyed gardening , golfing, sporting events and animals. Barbara's greatest joy was participating with her children and grandchildren in their activities. Surviving are her husband, D.A. of Brigham City; two children, Tom (Lori) Olsen, Logan; Teresa (Richard) Parker, Chester Springs, PA; two grandchildren, Jordan and Kylie Olsen. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Donna Hunsaker and one brother, Cordell Nelson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City LDS 12th Ward Chapel, 139 North 200 East. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City and on Monday at the Church from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.

I didn't really know your mother well,but I know you and your character and that speaks volumes about the type of life your mother lived.
Barbara was a great lady. We met through the Humane Society. She was a mentor to me on the proper way to run the rescue. Barbara had a great sense of humor and a big heart. I am glad I knew her.
