BRIGHAM CITY - Vera Ruth Judy Hale peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 following a joyous gathering with her eternal companion, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dear friends.
She was born on September 12, 1928 in Saint Anthony, Idaho, the sixth child of Junius Victor and Nellie Jane Roylance Judy.
Ruth married her sweetheart, Elgie Jonathan Hale, on August 30, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Married 67 years, they had seven children, 40 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren.
Ruth loved reading to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching the gospel, sewing, quilting and cooking. She made every family gathering a banquet of delicious food and fun. Ruth had a flare for making everything she touched beautiful. She found great pleasure in gathering her family and friends, making everyone feel loved and welcome. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her girls shopping and going out to lunch.
She served faithfully in many ward and stake callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together with her husband, Elgie, she served two LDS missions, a proselyting mission in Ireland and a temple mission in London, England. They then spent many years serving in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Ruth is survived by her sweetheart, Elgie; seven children: Kathy (Jax) Pettey, Brent (Sandra) Hale, Craig (Jamie) Hale, Kristen (Danny) Giatras, Ann (Kevin) Packer, Bob (Beth) Hale, Lisa (Brett) Wells; 40 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren; one brother, Victor Judy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Alice Burnham, three brothers: Don, Mark and Clarence Judy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Box Elder Stake Center, 420 South 800 West, Brigham City, Utah.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Box Elder Stake Center.

My heart goes out to Bro. Hale and the rest of the family. I always felt so loved by Sis. Ruth. I remember she gave me a Willow Tree Angel for my high school graduation present! I still have it and I LOVE it! Bro. And Sis. Hale showed the BEST example of true love!
So sorry for your loss. We love her so much! Love and prayers for your whole family!

Ruth was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She was so gracious, loving, independent, thoughtful, caring, and humble. I am truly grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know her. May you feel the peace of the comforter at this time and I know you will feel her loving embrace again!

Dear Brother Hale and Family,
Loving thoughts and prayers for all of you at this sad time. I admired and loved Ruth very much. I wouldn't have known about her passing had it not been for your cousin and my business colleague, Kelly Judy, posting photos on facebook.
Teresa Hedrick Rogers,
Ruth and Elgie were friends of my mother Elsa Hansen - and my friends too! I was truly sorry to hear of her passing. My sympathies to the whole family!
Elgie and family,
I was saddened to hear about the passing of Ruth. I have fond memories of the Hale family next door, for whom I have love, admiration, and respect. My heartfelt sympathies go out to all of you at this difficult time.
Dear Elgie and family,
We were so sad to hear about Aunt Ruth's passing. We were boarding a plane to see friends on their mission in Boston when we heard the news. Ruth and Elgie and your beautiful girls and handsome boys, have always been a great example to us as a family filled with the Love of Christ and willing to share your love with all. I can hear Ruth's beautiful, fun and endearing laugh just thinking about her. She made all feel welcome and had such a "Zest" for life, friends and family. I'm sure she is welcomed on the other side as we lovingly miss her presence here. Love you All,
John & Linda
