Roland (Ron) W. Jensen, 82, of Choteau, Montana I Brigham City, Utah passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Great Falls, Montana. Ron was born July 24, 1930 in Wyndemere, North Dakota to Max Alexander Jensen and Louise Mae Sanders Jensen. He grew up on the family farm with his older sister Joyce and younger brother Max. Ron attended local schools graduating from Wahpeton High School in Wahpeton, ND. He was active in track & field and set several school and state records. He also played the saxophone in the school band. He then attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton earning a degree in sheet metal fabrication. Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1950. He served for 22 years, taking him to 23 countries, including two tours in Vietnam during the war, and 48 states. While he was stationed at Hill Air Force Base, he met and married JoAnne Christensen, who was working civil service, on April 3, 1951. They divorced in 1991. Together they had 3 children, Roland W. Jensen II, Gary P. Jensen and Karen J. Harlow. Ron was a bartender in the Officers Club at most all of his duty stations and in Brigham City, Elks Lodge. After his retirement from the Air Force in February 1972 he and his family moved to Tremonton, Utah. He was then hired at Thiokol Chemical Corporation (ATK) in Promontory, Utah where he worked in the sheet metal shop. He was involved with the BPO Elks, American Legion, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the VFW in Northern Utah. On April 15, 1992 he married Betty Jane Larsen Jensen in Choteau, Montana. After his retirement from Thiokol in July 1992 Ron and Betty moved to Choteau and lived there until his death. Ron enjoyed and loved his family, friends, a good drink, a good laugh, good food, and working in his shop and yard. He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Max, his first wife JoAnne, his son Gary, and Granddaughter Sarah. He is survived by his wife Betty, his son Roland (Bonnie) Jensen and his daughter Karen (Ernie) Harlow both of Brigham City, Utah, his sister Joyce (Marvin) Schoenfish, Fargo, ND, and Betty's children, David Jensen, Choteau, MT, Dale (LeAnn) Jensen, Mooreton, ND, Janel Huether, Lisbon, ND, Wanda Meslow, and Dean Jensen, both of Wyndemere, ND, and Daniel Jensen, Wahpeton, ND. Together Ron and Betty have 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah on Monday February 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Family will greet friends and family from 10:00 AM to 10:40 AM. Inurnment at the Bear River City cemetery following the service, where military honors will be accorded VFW Honor Guard.
