Elizabeth Pearl Stanger passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2013 with family present. She was 96. She was born December 24, 1916 to J. Lawrence and Bessie Elizabeth Millard and grew up in Marriott where she attended the Marriott school across from their home. After graduating from Weber High, she attended Ogden Beauty School. She married Joseph Leland Stanger on September 29, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Marriott and developed a farm and poultry business. Pearl loved being the “egg lady” where people would come from miles around to buy fresh eggs from the Stanger farm.
Lee and Pearl loved to square dance and made many life long friends through their association. She was a talented seamstress and in addition to making clothes and quilts for the family, she made temple clothing. She was an active member of the LDS church and served in the Primary and Sunday School as a teacher and leader. She enjoyed serving with Lee as a stake missionary. Although farm work was demanding, Pearl loved to get away for a few days each summer to go camping with her family and friends in the high Uintahs. She loved being outside, watching beautiful sunsets and family visits.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, J. Leland Stanger, her brothers, Lawrence Raymond (Zola) Millard, Henry Maurice (Annie) Millard, Merle Joy (Myrle) Millard, and sister, Marjorie Louise (Wilford) Bingham. She is survived by her children, L. Dallas (Sharon) Stanger, Marian S. Smout, Leon J (Lynda) Stanger, Jerry D. (Teri) Stanger, and Donald R. (Jeri) Stanger. She has 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Marriott-Slaterville ward at 250 N 1500 W, Marriott-Slaterville on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held at the same location Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also hour before the funeral service. The funeral will be conducted by Bishop Jerry Stanger.
