Brigham City - Our loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Anthony Alan Drake, 24, passed away suddenly at his home in Brigham City, Utah on Sunday, April 7, 2013. He was born on September 5, 1988 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Larry Allen Drake and Catherine Iddles Vanderpool. Anthony graduated from Box Elder High School in 2007. He lettered four years while playing football and loved his team mates and especially coach Roesler. He was currently studying at Utah State University in business. He was also a member of Sigma Chi as was his grandfather, Alan Iddles. He loved his Sigma Chi brothers. When Anthony would walk into a room the sunshine from his soul would brighten the room and when he left everyone knew him. Anthony loved flying airplanes, pottery, reading, especially "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, music, skiing, boating, camping, motorcycling, walks, computers, outdoors, his pets and football. He was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings Football Team. He loved being with his family and friends. Anthony and his fiancé, Alyssa were looking forward to being parents in June to a little boy. The family would like to thank his friends for their love and support at this time. Surviving are his mother, Catherine (Rick) Vanderpool; father, Larry Drake; one sister, Molly Drake and one brother, Ryan Drake all of Brigham City; his loving fiancé, Alyssa Chamberlain, her parents, Mike and Tracy Chamberlain and family; grandparents, Delmar and Agnes Drake from Montana and his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alan and Molly Iddles. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to America First Credit Union on behalf of Anthony Drake, with proceeds to benefit his unborn son. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30p.m. Following the funeral services a Celebration of Life will be held at the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 235 East 850 South, Brigham City.
I met Anthony in 2nd grade at Lakeview. He invited me to a birthday party - and we were friends ever since. He was a strong teammate, and a great friend. At USU he was an example to me. My thoughts and prayers are with the Drakes, and I weep with you over the loss of one of our very best. Anthony has moved on to holier places, and we will see him again. 'O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?'
We were able to see Anthony grow up over the years and came to know him as a good and decent person. To lose him at such a young age is indeed a tragedy. We will miss him. A fond farewell, Anthony!
We wish to express our heartfelt condolences, we are so very truly sad to hear of the loss of your son/brother. May God give you peace through this grieving process.

Larry and kids,
so sorry for the loss of your son and brother. Even in Calif. we find out what's going on in UT. I don't know the reason he passed but it doesn't matter as he is with God. Your hearts must be breaking there are NO words anyone can say to ease your pain and grief. Just know I care and will pray for comfort for you all.
It is with deepest sorrow that we express our sadness and love to you over the loss of Anthony. What a priceless gift a child is and it never seems right or fair that they leave before mom and dad do. We are supposed to get to love them for the rest of our lives. He will be greatly missed, but he was greatly loved by many, many people. What a treasure it was to know him and his life will never be forgotten. Many people have been greatly blessed because of him and his life will continue to bless the people he leaves behind. Our prayers are with you all during this time. Know you are loved.

I am so saddened bu your loss. I look at Anthony's picture and I see so much of you. It is my prayer that when you look into the face of your new grandson, you will see Anthony's smile and that you will heal and find hope in the upcoming days. Although I never met Anthony, I am sure he was a tremendous blessing to you, and, because I know you, I know you were a father who loved and provided for him every single day. God bless you, Larry. Hugs and prayers for you.

I was friends with your son from high school on. He was always a great friend to me. Whenever I needed a friend he was there. He visited me after I had a surgery and hung out with me my graduation night in college when I had no one else to hang out with. My family loved him and was very sad to hear the news. He was someone who always made everyone feel special and important. I will never forget his example of how to love life, love everyone, make everyone else feel special, and how to do fun activities. He was amazing. He will be an amazing dad up in heaven. Your family is in my prayers.
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Anthony. Although I never met him, I'm a fellow Sigma Chi alum and have known Rick while working at Mim's in Corinne. I was sorry to hear about your loss and was concerned about all involved.
Larry, Judy and family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Anthony. I know he was incredibly loved. Although I do not know Alyssa, I have heard what a wonderful person she is and you are all in my heart.
I wanted to take a moment to share my condolences to you all for Anthony's sudden passing. My family met Anthony a couple of years ago. He and Carson spent the summer at our house, while working in Salt Lake. Anthony was such a joy and sweet person. He was always very appreciative of us opening our home to him and was so polite. He would always take time after working long hours to play sports with my two boys. I hope you all can find comfort in this great loss. God bless.
