Thelma Lee Conroy Lawrence passed away Tuesday, July 31,2012, in her home surrounded by her family after a long and healthy life of 103 years. She was born to Edward Michael Conroy and Martha Ogles Conroy on June 20, 1909 in Canton, Georgia. She married T. Godfrey Lawrence on Sept. 22, 1927. They were sealed in the LDS Logan Temple on Aug. 2, 1962. He passed away on Aug. 1, 1971. Lee was a young married living in Chicago when the Great Depression hit. When times were hard, they moved in with two other couples who were Godfrey's brothers and their wives. She remembers that no matter what, every Sat. night they dressed to "the nines," and danced and had fun right there in their apartment. The Charleston was a popular dance of the time, and she won a number of dance contests. Lee and her husband were in the hardware and appliance business for many years in Ft. Myers, Florida. She moved to Utah 30 years ago with her daughter's family. She's been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in the women's Relief Society and taught Sunday School and early morning seminary. Lee was loved by all who knew her and beloved by her children and grandchildren. She had an amazing sense of humor. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, and a brother. She is survived by her daughter Martha Wilks Harrison (Dennis); sons Thomas Godfrey Lawrence, Jr. (Marilyn); Charles Richard Lawrence (Pam), both of Fort Myers, Florida. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 6 great, great, grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, Aug, 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. Family will greet friends on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:40 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Special thanks to Integrity Home Health and Hospice for their loving care.

Sam & I both remember your mother so well. She had a wonderful, blessed life. I know you will miss her terribly, but are happy that she has now gone on to eternal life. Much love to you all.
Of the thousands of live she has touched, I am but one. She was so supportive to my mother and our family in Fort Myers while living in Ft Myers over a half a century ago. She holds a place of love and respect in our hearts. From all the good she has done, her family will have good memories to fill the void until reunited in Christ. All our love to the family

This is a sad and happy day for all of us that knew Sis Lawrence. I often think of her and will miss keeping up on her occaisionally, but I know that she is where she is free from the limits of this life and is rejoicing with her loved ones that have long been gone from her. She is amazing and has had an amazing affect on those she has touched.
Love to all

Howdy Martha, So sad knowing she’s not with us anymore. Happy to know she’s in a better place with so many of her special love ones and without the body pains that comes with age. We’ll always remember her as the little lady with the big smile. Yes, don’t reckon I ever saw her without a big smile. You were very blessed to have such a great mom in this mortal life. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do for you folks from Huntsville, Alabama. We’ll say a prayer of comfort for you folks in the Nashville Temple tomorrow. Love you folks,

So sorry for the loss of your dear Mother. We met in Sept 1969 when we moved to the Fort Myers Ward with our four children from Ohio. Bishop Lawrence had been released & Bishop Campbell was our Bishop. Sister Lawrence was always so special. We loved her sweet, Southern ways. I was so glad we were able to see her when she visited Flroida & we had a 90th birthday luncheon for her in our home. Will miss knowing she is not here but I know she is with Healvenly Father and other dear family members. With love,

To the family of Thelma Lee Lawrence
...and I was one of the ones taken in. How lovely to be allowed in my Bishop's home. When I married, Sister Lawrence gave me a tiny silver platter, which I still have. I received so much love and acceptance from the Bishop and Thelma. Listening to the funeral and seeing the family was like going to heaven for a bit. For in the beginning, I knew the Bishop and Sister Lawrence, Rick and Martha. All my life, Rick has been my dearest friend, he has stood by me and stood up for me and my family. He has never abandoned me. So, in so many, many ways, all of you feel like my family. When Rick would send a picture, I delighted in seeing Thelma. I remember the pimento sandwishes, I also remember the pickle diets. Must not have hurt her. I so loved her. She was everything that her family said about her and more. Both the Bishop and Sister Lawrence were so kind and so good to me and Rick has never forgotten how truely alone I am without a family of my own. I now have my children and my grandchildren, and Thelma just taught me so many things, just now, just watching the pictures and listening to the talks. Thank you so very much for sharing these moments with me. For this extraordinary family: Remember the words of our Master, When he said, I will never forsake you, neither can you flea from my presence. I am nearer than breathing and closer then hands and feet, I am in the midst of you and now, my sweet Thelma, you have surrendered into the silence of God's peace, and now you rest. What a wonderful life to stay for all those babies. How truely blessed. I love each and every one of you. Rick has always had my heart, he has continued to be my friend always. Thank you Rick. And, Thank you for sharing this video. I will always come back to it. It is 2:38 in the night. And, to have turned to this to remember those beautiful and too short days in Fort Myers. I send my love and admiration to all of you. How truely blessed you are. God Bless.
