Lola Jean Murphy Hansen

Visitation: Wednesday evening 6-8 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City.
Funeral Service: Thursday, June 7 at the Brigham City LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 420 South 800 West at 10:00 am, with visitation at 9:00 to 9:40 am.
Interment: Brigham City Cemetery.
BRIGHAM CITY - Lola Jean Murphy Hansen, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Lola was born Feb 10, 1925 in Logan, Utah, to Jesse Columbus Murphy and Mary Ross Smith Murphy. She married her eternal companion, Eldon M. Hansen, of Preston, Idaho, on June 19, 1953 in Logan, Utah, the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 19, 1961 sealing their three children to them for time and eternity.
Graduating from Logan High School and Seminary, she worked at Cache Knitting Mills and later at Brigham Apparel. She was known for her cookies, sewing, embroidery, quilting, making chocolates to share with friends at holidays and working in her yard, especially with her flowers.
Lola and Eldon moved to Brigham City in 1955 where Eldon was employed. She was a member of the LDS Church and had served in many organizations. She had been a counselor in the Relief Society and Young Women organizations, Cub Scout den mother, and a Primary teacher. Loving the hymns of Zion, she participated in choirs, most recently the Relief Society choir at Maple Springs. For her entire life, Lola sang hymns and Primary songs as she worked and exercised. Volunteering at the Brigham City Community Hospital for many years in the hospital gift shop, she enjoyed assisting others.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon, three children: Jeanne H. Sneddon (Dale) Carthage, Missouri, Richard E. Hansen, Brigham City, Ronald L. Hansen (Jana) Idaho Falls, ID. Ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren (with one more soon to be born in June), and her sister, Carole Joyce Lisonbee. Preceded in death by her father, mother, sisters: Dorothy Church, Eva Larsen, Margaret Tams, Kathryn Roskelley, and brothers: Jesse C. Murphy Jr. and Robert Murphy.
