Vewing: Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City LDS 17th Ward Chapel, 139 East 300 North.
Interment: Brigham City Cemetery
Brigham City - Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Edna Lund Godfrey, 93 passed away peacefully at her home in Brigham City on Friday, June 22, 2012 from natural causes.
She was born on December 12, 1918 in Brigham City, Utah, a daughter of Leo Lorenzo and Ellen Lurena Olsen Stranquist Lund.
Edna married her sweetheart, Sylven Godfrey on June 7, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2007.
She had lived in Carmichael, CA, Fremont, CA, and Yuba City, CA and in Brigham City, Utah.
She attended Lincoln School in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School. She attended Weber State College, California State University and Sacramento College where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. Edna was a teacher in the Elementary Education System.
Edna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as Relief Society and Primary Presidents and served on two temple missions with her husband, Sylven in the Ogden LDS Temple and Denver Colorado Temple Missions. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She loved sewing, canning, reading, quilting and gardening.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas and Larena Matthews, Members of the Brigham City LDS 17th Ward and all the care givers for the exceptional care for our mother.
Surviving is one son, Michael (Marie) Godfrey; three grandchildren, Steven Godfrey, Shelly (Jarrod) Jamison, Aimee (Aaron) Gough; seven great grandchildren, Spencer, Ryan and Parker Godfrey; Jayden, Drew and Ava Jamison and Vivien Gough; one brother, Arthur Lund; one sister-in-law, Rosella Goodwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sylven, one son Glen Godfrey, four brothers, Lewis, Doyle, Ellis and Clair Lund and one sister, Glenna Henderson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City LDS 17th Ward Chapel, 139 East 300 North.
A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
