Edith Smith Bywater, 96, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at her son's home in Huber Heights, Ohio.
She was born on October 4, 1916 in Hooper, Utah, a daughter of Raymond H. and Alice Louise Jones Smith. Edith graduated from Box Elder High School.
Edith married Clifford Wood Bowen on January 16, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1965. She married Glen Bywater on August 31, 1968 in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2004.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. Before leaving to stay with her son in Ohio, she belonged to the Brigham City 20th Ward. Edith and Glen had served a mission to the South Dakota, Rapid City Mission. They also were temple workers at the Boise Idaho LDS Temple
Edith had worked as the school cook in Howell Valley, and retired from Minidoka School District in Idaho as an Assistant Librarian.
One of her favorite loves was being an avid genealogist.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton for their compassion to our mother.
Surviving are one son, Doug (Linda) Wood; nine step children, Marylan Whitaker; DeWayne Bywater; Renae Lindsay; Colon Bywater; Julia Findlay; Deverl Bywater; Mike Bywater; Sheila Halterman; Janine Halterman; three granddaughters, six great grandchildren and 40 step grandchildren and 104 step great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren Cory and Jared Wood and her stepson, Richard J Glen Bywater, step grandson Rickey Dean Whitaker,
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brigham City 20th LDS Chapel, 650 Anderson Drive.
A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:30a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
